Australian audiences flocked to see Twilight star Robert Pattinson's romantic period drama Water for Elephants over the weekend, keeping Australian star Chris Hemsworth from hammering out a number one spot for Thor.
The $2.6 million in ticket sales for Water for Elephants also drove Fast and Furious 5 out of the top spot at the box office, dropping to a non-podium fourth placing behind Source Code, which was steady in the number three position.
The Kate Hudson/Ginnifer Goodwin romantic comedy Something Borrowed slipped one place to number five, while the animated Little Red Riding Hood sequel Hoodwinked Too! gained one place to number six.
In their first week out the Rose Byrne horror movie Insidious and the James Franco comedy Your Highness debuted at number six and seven respectively, while the modern remake of Arthur continues to slide out of the top ten, rounded out by animation Rio.
